Defining “Classic Car”

Defining a classic car has varied answers as to what age makes a classic vs an antique or vintage car.
The definition can be different from organization to organization and different states as well classify them differently.

Typically a “classic car” is considered to be a vehicle that’s over 20 years old.
Antique cars are over 45 years old, leaving the vintage cars to be labeled as those that were built between 1919 and 1930.
These terms are often interchangeable and again, all states don’t recognize the 3 classifications.

The Classic Car Club of America is extremely strict with how they describe a classic.
The only cars they classify as classics are those built between 1915 and 1948.

Then we have the Hagerty, which classifies cars from 1900 to 1979 as either Antique or Classic.
If the car was made in 1980 or later, then they considered it collector car.

So, as you see there’s a wide array of info on the terms.
No matter what though a classic is a wonderful thing!
